The Wool Towns Advent – December 10
Angelo Smith & Son – traditional family jeweller | Sudbury
Welcome to The Wool Towns Advent – each day, between now and Christmas Eve, we will be opening the doors on one of the region’s shining stars. Oh come all ye faithful, sing in exultation!
More than one hundred and thirty years ago, Angelo Newman Smith, the son of a local boot and shoemaker, opened his watchmaking and jewellery business in New Street, Sudbury. Angelo’s skilled craftsmanship and integrity ensured that the business thrived and his reputation grew stronger. Ten years later he moved his business to North Street, Sudbury, where it’s doors have remained open ever since.
Since the death of Angelo’s grandson Peter Smith in 2007 the business has been proudly carried on by John Hume who has been associated with the shop for over forty years. Today the showroom offers a fine and extensive selection of jewellery, watches, clocks and silverware, more than sufficient to indulge the friend or relative who “has everything”.
Jewellery is carefully selected and designed to suit all tastes and budgets, from a child’s first signet ring to exquisite hand-made bespoke items. The treasury of antique and previously owned jewellery is second-to-none and includes items brought from all over the country. The extensive range of watches includes brands such as Michel Herbelin, Victorinox, Mondaine, Rotary and Seiko.
Collectively, John Hume and all his staff have 175 years’ experience and are always willing to advise on any area of the jewellery and watch trade.
